The 'Darwin Now' exhibition, resulting from the partnership of the British Council and the National Museum of Natural History, Sofia, became a travelling exhibition. After being presented at NMNHS (4 March to 12 April), it was shown at the Museum of History of Medicine in Varna (30 April to 21 May), in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia (22 May to 20 June), in the Balabanov House in Plovdiv (15 July to 4 August). Another opening of the exhibition was held in Palaeontological Museum in Asenovgrad (a branch of NMNHS) on 5 August 2009.

On the occasion of 200 anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin and 150 years from the publication of his book ‘On the Origin of Species’, the British Council and the NMNHS held a competition for young talents, students 16—18 years of age for a photo essay on Evolution. The winners — Elitsa Zhugleva from Pazardzhik and Alex Sredov from Kyustendil — attended the International Student Forum from 30 June to 2 July in the Natural History Museum in London.
