On 2 August 2012 the Minister of education, youth and science Prof. Sergei Ignatov visited the National Museum of Natural History in the presence of Prof. Eugene Nickolov, Vice-President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The visit was a part of the Minister's programme for meetings with boards of BAS institutes and Bulgarian universities in order to set up a working group for planning the next period of European programmes 2014-2020. The focal point of discussions is a new Operational Programme 'Science and education for intelligent development'.
The Director of the museum, Prof. Nikolai Spassov, presented the programme of the museum for development of exposition, scientific funds, educational and research fields.
