Abstract: This article is devoted to a review of specimens identified as belonging to the genus Maraenobiotus Mrázek, 1893 reported for Bulgaria from the Rhodope and Rila Mountains under the name of Maraenobiotus vejdovskyi truncatus Gurney, 1932. Closer examination of the armature of the caudal rami and other morphological characteristics revealed significant differences between the specimens from these disjunctive populations and M. truncatus that had been originally described by Gurney (1932) from the United Kingdom. Based on these differences, the population from the Western Rhodope Mountains is described here as a new species, M. rhodopensis n. sp., and the population from the Rila Mountains is described here as M. rilaensis n. sp.
