The July 2026 issue is out

Issue 7 of volume 48 of Historia naturalis bulgarica was published today, 1 July. It includes three articles.

The first, Beyond bats: hidden mammalian biodiversity in Bulgarian caves by Nia Toshkova, Vladimir R. Todorov, Stanimira Deleva, Ilya Acosta-Pankov, Rostislav Bekchiev, Mario Langourov, Nikolay Simov, Venislava Spasova and Nedko Nedyalkov, presents records of non-volant mammals obtained during cave surveys and bat-monitoring activities conducted between 1993 and 2026; the dataset comprises 214 records of 14 taxa from 29 caves.

The second, On the abundance of Triturus ivanbureschi Arntzen & Wielstra, 2013 (Amphibia: Salamandridae): a case study in three Natura 2000 sites in Bulgaria by Borislav Naumov, Simeon Lukanov, Emiliya Vacheva, Maria Naumova, Deyan Duhalov and Andrey Kolev, presents data on the relative abundance of Buresch’s crested newt (Triturus ivanbureschi) in three Natura 2000 sites in Bulgaria.

And the third, Two autumn collecting expeditions highlight the under-researched Lepidoptera fauna of Albania: new records and notes on related literature with additions to the fauna of the country (Lepidoptera: Macroheterocera) by Botond Balogh, Balázs Tóth, Áron Horváth, Stoyan Beshkov and Nimród Varga, presents results on Macroheterocera of two entomological expeditions conducted in September–October 2025 near Mali me Gropa (Central Albania); one genus and three species are new for Albania.
