On the Awakeners’ Day, in an official ceremony held in Sredets Gallery, the National Museum of Natural History, Sofia was awarded by the Ministry of Culture with first place in the category of National museum for their contributions towards the popularisation of cultural heritage and art through the creation and implementation of educational museum programmes. The Deputy Minister of Culture, Assoc. Prof. Plamen Slavov, presented the award to the museum’s Director, Prof. Pavel Stoev.
The prestigious award was a recognition of the activities conducted by the museum’s educational team in 2021 as part of the project Education with science — II, which was financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture. These include a series of programmes with physical, digital, and mixed attendance for activities split into three modules.
# In Class with NMNHS: Activities that aid the educational process throughout the school year by giving the opportunity to have direct contact with scientists in the museum, as well as via scientist visitations to schools.
# Teacher school: The programme is aimed at helping natural science high school teachers and pedagogy students specialising in Biology. Its goal is to give teachers more confidence in working with current scientific achievements in their specialty through different opportunities for cooperation with members of the scientific community.
# Let’s explore together: The activity aims to introduce students to scientific work through participation in real research.
