On the 28th of March 2024, at 18:00 in the fourth floor foyer of the National Museum of Natural History in Sofia, the museum’s director Prof Pavel Stoev and the chairman of the Society of Animalists, Florists, and Scientific Illustrators (SAFSI) Mr Georgi Pchelarov officially unveiled ILLUSTRATORIUM II, an solo exhibition by Denitsa Peneva.
The exhibition presents selected works of Denitsa Peneva from related SAFSI exhibits and plein-airs, as well as her entries for scientific illustration projects. Centrepieces of the exhibition are the scientific illustrations of five species of European dormice, included in the work “Dormice of Europe (Gliridae)” with which Denitsa Peneva won first place in “Nature illustration” category of the international scientific illustration contest Illustraciencia in 2023.
The work is inspired by and created for the 11th International Scientific Conference on Dormice, which was organised by the National Museum of Natural History, BAS in 2022.
The exhibition ILLUSTRATORIUM II is curated by Hristina Grozdanova, Curator at Regional History Museum of Sofia.
