On 14 August 2025, at 16:00 in the conference hall of the National Museum of Natural History, Sofia, the digital edition of the museum’s “Terminologia theriologica taxonomica bulgarica. Illustrated trilingual dictionary of the mammals of the world. English — Latin — Bulgarian” was presented by its author, Prof. Zlatozar Boev, DSc.
The publication is a volume from “Bureschiana”, the museum’s series of scientific monographs. It includes the names of 6580 mammals in English and their scientific Latin names, as well as the name of the author, description year, and their Bulgarian names.
The species are ordered systematically and are illustrated with 249 photos by 17 Bulgarian zoologists.
Reviewers of the monograph are Prof. Nikolai Spassov (National Museum of Natural History, Sofia) and Prof. Dilian Georgiev from Trakia University.

This is the third volume of the series of naming reference books of Bulgarian taxonomic nomenclature of world vertebrates. The first two volumes, which are also freely accessible on the museum’s website, cover the birds of the world — Passeriformes and Non-Passeriformes, respectively.
