The beginning of the collection has been laid in 1990 on the base of material collected by a local teacher Dimitar Kovachev. It has continued to develop until almost the last time, thanks to the work of two technitians, at place in the museum, situated in Asenovgrad town.
Contains more than 30000 items mainly late Miocene large mammals and a small part invertebrates (ammonites, corals, sea urchins and etc.), arranged in boxes, in taxonomic order.
